We had the same problem but my mother-in-law bought us a what is known as a co-sleeper. The baby's bed is right next to yours and he will be easy to access and take care of without fear of harming him.

Good luck!

Before my son was born the most fun I had was creating the nursery. We picked a theme & had a blast! Have fun Ladies!

Some other stuff to think about is making sure your furniture does have sharp edges. We were offered a beautiful dresser for my son but had 2 turn it down beacause to edges were sharp & when ds started walking I would've panicked. Also baby proof outlet plugs, window guards if needed, radiator covers all depending on your home. Those first months fly by ladies & soon they will be crawling/walking around their room & U want 2 make it as safe as possible!

It is so imporatnt to make the nursery a magical place. We bought a really beautiful handmade mobile from www.camdenrose.com that spins over my daughter's crib. It was the first thing we purchased and it created our theme. Remember that they are only this age once....make it magical for both of you.

Great idea. I also would like to recommend a great lullaby CD that really is sweet for both child and parent.
Warm & Tender
Olivia Newton-John

To help baby relax and sooth them after a long day we got several lulluby CD's with classical style lulluby's and whenever we put on our son's favorite he went right to sleep or stopped crying... we keep it on even now in the night and it helps him not to be scared when he wakes up. I think this was an invaluable tool for us!

I agree and disagree with Riley C. Babies don’t “know” that they have a cute nursery but they feel when you put effort into making their enviornment special and they feel when you value them by making things nice.

So, yes, loving them is most important but having giving them a lovely room can help them feel loved.

The first thing we did was pick a theme for our nursery because everything else just fell into place around that! As for the most important things, a newborn cradle is nice and a rocking chair! The changing table was convenient, the dresser is probably really convenient (with lots of onesies and blankets!) Regardless of what you put into the nursery the thing your baby will remember is the love you give him or her – the furnishings are kind of a perk for us because they’re cute and it looks good!
